The Trauma-Sensitive Research Certification isn’t just about learning new skills—it’s about deepening your understanding of trauma-informed practices in research. This programme is designed for those who are passionate about creating safer, more inclusive research environments.
L1
Trauma-Aware Practitioner
A 2-hour introduction to trauma-sensitive research for clinicians and non-clinical practitioners, covering core principles, trauma theory, and practical techniques for applying trauma-sensitive approaches in research.
L2
Trauma-Sensitive Skilled Practitoner
A 20-hour certification for non-clinical practitioners to acquire trauma-sensitive skills in research settings. Includes 14 hours of online training over 7 weeks and 6 hours of self-directed study. Practitioners are responsible for sourcing their own supervision.
L3
Trauma-Sensitive Advanced Practitioner
A 40-hour advanced certification for non-clinical practitioners who have completed L2. Spanning 4 months, this programme includes monthly one-day events. Requires practical experience in trauma-sensitive research and at least 6 months of supervision before the course starts.

Trauma-Sensitive Advanced Trainer
A certification for professionals with a clinical registration, confirming a comprehensive understanding of trauma-sensitive research. The holder has delivered a minimum of 40 hours of trauma-sensitive research training and regularly attends trauma-sensitive supervision.
Trauma Sensitive Supervisor
A certification for professionals with a clinical qualification, demonstrating expertise in supervisory practices. The holder has supervised at least 40 hours of trauma-sensitive research and completed a minimum of 5 hours of supervision of supervision.
